Cynthia Ithier

A seasoned nonprofit leader and dedicated advocate for health equity and social justice, Cynthia Ithier brings compassion and expertise to empowering communities and advancing grassroots causes. She began her career leading a nonprofit supporting children with disabilities, where her resourcefulness and resilience drove essential funding efforts despite limited resources. Cynthia later honed her skills in engaging state leaders, funders, and community partners to champion health equity initiatives at The Pew Charitable Trusts. There, she spearheaded efforts addressing social determinants of health, including maternal and infant mortality, and worked on initiatives in mental health and justice, safe food access, and community violence prevention, to name a few. Through these programs, she collaborated with state agencies, community organizations, and health providers to provide critical support to underserved populations. Most recently, Cynthia has driven record-setting growth at the American Diabetes Association, where she expanded corporate partnerships, secured increased grant funding, and led dynamic events and campaigns. In addition to these efforts, she grew community events specifically designed to support those directly affected by diabetes, reinforcing the organization’s impact at a grassroots level.
